AI Cooking Pal Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled when using the AI Cooking Pal application ("App"). Please read this before using the App. The App respects user privacy and is committed to protecting personal information.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information provided by users
- Ingredient list: ingredient names entered for recipe generation
- Seasoning list: seasonings added or selected by the user
- Favorite recipes: titles, descriptions, and steps of recipes saved as favorites
- App settings: dark mode setting, automatic bookmark setting
1.2 Automatically collected
- Usage statistics: AI feature usage count and app usage (Firebase Analytics)
- Advertising identifier: Advertising ID used by AdMob for ad delivery
- Device information: app version, device model, OS version
- App Check token: integrity verification information for fraud detection (Google Play Integrity)
The App does not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as name, email address, or phone number. The App does not require account registration. Information collected is limited to recipe-related data entered by users within the App and operational statistics.
2. How We Use Information
2.1 Main purposes
- Recipe generation: providing AI-generated recipe suggestions based on entered ingredients and seasonings
- Favorites: saving and displaying recipes the user has bookmarked
- App settings: storing user preferences (theme, automatic bookmark, etc.)
- Fraud prevention: verifying legitimate clients with App Check and applying per-device daily request limits
- Ad delivery: showing ads via AdMob to sustain the service
- Service improvement: collecting statistics to improve the App
2.2 About AI Features
The App's recipe-generation feature sends the entered ingredient list and seasoning list to the Google Gemini API through a Cloudflare Workers proxy operated by us. This allows users to receive recipe suggestions that make use of their entered ingredients. The transmitted data does not include any personally identifiable information.
3. Sharing with Third Parties
3.1 Google Gemini API (via Cloudflare Workers)
- Shared information: text of ingredient and seasoning lists
- Purpose: AI-powered recipe generation
- Route: sent to Google through our Cloudflare Workers proxy
- Data retention: per the data retention policies of Google and its service providers
3.2 Firebase (Google)
- Firebase Analytics: collection of anonymized app usage statistics
- Firebase App Check (with Play Integrity): blocking access from unauthorized clients
- Data retention: per Google's data retention policy
3.3 Google AdMob
- Shared information: advertising ID, coarse location, device information
- Purpose: ad delivery and personalization
- Resetting or opting out: available from the "Ads" section in device settings
3.4 Google Play Services
- Features used: app update and review functionality
- Collected information: app usage statistics and crash reports
We do not provide personal information to third parties beyond the above without user consent, except as required by law.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local data
- Favorite recipes and seasoning lists are stored in the device's local database.
- App settings and API call counts are stored in the device's SharedPreferences.
- All local data is deleted when the App is uninstalled.
4.2 Security measures
- All external communication is encrypted via HTTPS
- Sensitive information such as the AI API key is not stored on the client; it is managed server-side (Cloudflare Workers)
- Firebase App Check blocks access from unauthorized clients
- Per-device daily request limits help prevent abuse
5. User Rights
Users can access all data stored in the App. Stored information can be viewed and edited from the favorites, seasoning, and settings screens.
- Deleting individual data: recipes can be removed on the favorites screen, and seasonings on the seasoning screen.
- Deleting all data: all local data is deleted when the App is uninstalled from the device.
- Resetting the advertising ID: available from the device Settings > Ads section.
- Data deletion requests: to request deletion of data held by third-party services (such as Google), please contact us via the channel below.
6. Data Retention
- Local data: retained until App uninstallation. Manually deleted data is removed immediately.
- Google Gemini API: per Google's data retention policy
- Firebase / Google Play Services / AdMob: per Google's data retention policy
7. Children's Privacy
The App does not intentionally collect personal information from children under 13. If a child under 13 uses the App, please do so under parental supervision.
8. Changes to Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as needed. Important changes will be announced within the App or in the release notes on Google Play Store. Updated policies take effect upon posting on this page.
